What type of tester? Coolant test strips? Refractometer?

Antifreeze is cheap, and IMPORTANT. You did all the work to change the T Stat, please put in brand new 50/50 antifreeze. I us the pre-mix stuff, nobody can mess that up, not even me. At $17 per gallon, buy two. Saving $34 bucks now will look pretty dumb as soon as you have a cooling issue that will cost substantially more. No brainer.

I just want to be clear. I don't have any issue with that temp gauge, normal in my book for an H3 with a new T Stat.
I just think Eurynomestolas should replace the coolant with fresh. Might make a difference in gauge position, might not, but he/we will know he did it up right and not have to worry about coolant quality issues.

Effective approach! All of my research must have fallen on deaf ears.

No it didn't. It's not difficult to mix a gallon of concentrated coolant with a gallon of distilled water to get 2 gallons of 50/50 mix. AND, that's what the manufacturer recommends...I'm just say'in. But definitely do what makes you feel most comfortable.😊

Not about how you buy it, it's about PROPER maintenance to extend the LIFE of the engine! No mixing with others, DC only!
Just like many think running temp in the "safe" or "normal" zone, is ok? All you need to do, is research the effects on engine temperature.
Since dexcool came out there have been many complaints, and from my research from the customer's, they did not mix/maintain it properly(now it's 50/50) Yes, today's dexcool is good for 150k miles, however it still needs changed every 5yrs.
So much information online these days, and you could also get a FREE coolant test at most shops these days.
I still have the OEM engine, and the temp gauge runs 1/2.
