Default Rear output snap ring

Hey guys I am new to the group so I hope I'm going about this correctly. I have a 2006 h3 with the bw4493 transfer case. It has been popping out of gear (the transfer case) while driving g. I found several things about the plastic shift fork so I pulled it out and replaced that with the aluminum fork. Everything looked good inside. Put it back in and it has the same problem. I found an old thread about the snap ring on the rear output shaft but now I cant find it again. I really need a part number for this snap ring. I have called my local parts stores and they cant find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to HF.

I helped by MOVING your thread away from the HF Help & Suggestion Center, where the top sticky thread in that section says: "Do NOT post vehicle questions in this section" as that section has nothing to do with any vehicle, but is for questions on how to use forum features, like posting a pic.......

So now your question is in the H3 Section, where ALL questions regarding H3s go. The shift fork replacement would likely not fix your problem as it creates issues with lock more than anything. Popping out of gear could be a few things, but I never heard of it being related to a rear OP Shaft snap ring?

I would be looking for an electrical issue created by a bad TCCM, Actuator/shift motor, or connections to the Actuator or the wiring to same. You said looks good inside, so I take it a loose T Case chain was ruled out.

How many miles? Popping out of gear could use a more detailed explanation for me. Symptoms, recent work done, still using ACDelco half shafts?

Thanks Doc Olds. I appreciate your help finding the right place for my question. Our hummer is a 2006 H3 with 190,000 miles. It started with the front getting hard to turn when making sharp turns and then it went to this new thing where you're driving along and it's like you slip it up into neutral but it's not the transmission it's the transfer case. So I pulled it out and of course the plastic shift fork was worn so I replaced it and looked everything over. No slop in the chain or wear on the gears so put it back in. My wife drove it the next day with no problems. The second day I drove it a short distance (maybe 5 miles) and it done the same thing 3 times. The first time I stopped and put it in 4 high lock and drove about a half mile stopped put it back in 4 hi, drove a little ways and it happened again so I just let off the accelerator and coasted a little ways and it went back into gear same thing the third time also. So I seen an old thread where someone mentioned the "infamous snap ring" ( their words) so I guess I was hoping for something easy like that. The encoder motor seems to be working , I can hear it shifting through as I push the buttons. Also when it goes into neutral the lights on the dash say it's still in 4hi

Is the Trans the original without rebuild unit? When was the last fluid and filter change?

As far as I know the transmission is original. We have not owned the vehicle long and I have not changed the fluid

I think we found your problem. The T Cases last far longer than the Trans, every time. I thinking rebuild Trans time.
