Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
Thanks for the correction I did mean seats not seals. I will remove the valves tonight for a closer look at the seats and check to see if they are built up with carbon and or damaged pitted etc.
VIN FALLS INTO THE GROUP OF JUNK SEATS 164411. AND YES IT IS A FULL REMAN, CAMS BEARINGS VALVES SPRINGS ETC.... COMPLETE. TOTAL FOR THE REPLACEMENT HEAD $1100.00 $125.00 CORE WHICH STILL WORKED OUT TO BE LESS THEN REPAIR ON THIS OG HEAD.
So there is a few things I have learned. If the timing chain wedge slips out the tensioner hits full ratchet and wont retract back, requires a front cover job. The right front axle needs to be pulled out, transfer case removed, steering rack rolled back, dipstick pulled, then the oil pan removed following the pickup up tube three 10mm bolts. What an absolute pain in the *** might I add. Ac compressor pushed over to the side and all belt driven pulleys removed (less the power steering pump). Now that I am in there and never ever want to do that job again, I will be replaceing the timing chain tensioner guides and oil pump. SMH at the engineers behind this rocket science engine lol.
At this point I probably would have just pulled the motor lol. I am still unsure if I should split the transmission and do the rear while this is all apart. The hummer only has 147,000km on it so I might just leave the chain in the rear for now.
You haven't heard anything about valve "seals" except from yourself. They last forever in Atlas motors. The valve "seats" are the issue of contention with 06 3.5L motors
this is one if the very exact things that caused my motor to go and it's a 3.7 07 they were supposed to fix.
