I have no idea what causes it. I doubt the dealer would find out even. All i know is when it does it nothing works but taking out the switches and bringing them in the house and taking.g it apart. Leaving it near a heater a couple hours and reinstalling it. I tried all the other mentioned tricks on here besides a new switch. And also as mentioned mine dint appear to have been wet. But not much water is needed to short something. I did ge lucky once and left the face vents heating and pointed it at the switches once for a few hours driving and it worked after a while. Maybe they are finely when cold too... Who knows!!!

I had the same problem after my OEM battery died. I replaced the battery and the drivers side window and power door locks didnt work. The solution is to disconnect the battery cables and hold them together for 15 seconds. Then reconnect them and tighten them down. As goofy as it sounds this "resets" the lockout mode and both should work just fine. Good luck!

I had the same problem, it is the drivers door switch housing. can order from "RockAuto.com" $120.00 or "PartsGeek.com" about $120.00. It is a 5 minute quick and easy fix. Old switch housing is held in place with attached spring clips, remove 2 plug ins and pop the new back in place.

I have changed the switch, cleaned the wire harness connecting plug and it is still not working the locks or driver window. I have tried the reset procedure, changed battery terminals, new battery and still nothing. SO I now have a new switch installed and my windows go up and down on passenger front, rear, and driver rear. You here the chime when you press the door locks but nothing.

The best part of being the owner of a HUMMER, nobody in their right mind would try and steal it.

Try what worked for me: Keep in mind, when my door locks didn't work, I always hit lock on the key fob to enable the alarm system.

start with "lock" on the key fob (enables the antitheft system)

then hit unlock(on fob), open the door, unplug both connectors on the master switch, hit lock(on fob), hit unlock(on fob), plug both connectors back into the master switch, wait for it--->start vehicle, now try your master switch..

Well Thanks anyways Hummerz, Tried that and the battery reset and still nothing, I even unhooked the BCM and let it sit for 2 hours in hopes from reading on here that it might need to be reset. Either way I am totally lost and I do not like to brag but I have been working on vehicles for almost 20 years and never seen this kind of a problem where when you change the whole switch that it still does not work

Anybody get it to work some other way as I can not figure it out but once more thank you for the procedure Hummerz.

Can you enable/disable the alarm with the key fob(hit lock on the key fob and open door, alarm should sound)? If so, there is no reason to pull the cord on the BCM.. Replace or swap the #8 fuse & swap the #68 relay with another relay in the fuse box with the same numbers marked on it. If that works, you have a defective fuse or relay. GL

One other thing to check is the wiring going from the door to the car body. I think I read that there could be a pinch point or something that could effect the switch. It could be one wire and that one wire could be your FOB. Just another thought. GL

I ran into this problem today after by H3 had the theft prevention lock that prevents the car from starting when it thinks it being stolen. I looked around here and it said that could be caused from a poor connection with the battery. I disconnected the battery and reconnected it and the car started, but then my locks and driver side window would not work. Took the car into the garage and decided that the factory connections on the battery cable are basically junk. I replaced them with better ends and reconnected the battery. Then I reset fuse #6 and #68 and everything worked just fine again. If you run into this problem I would suggest completely replacing the battery connections completely to avoid any more problems.
