Thanks for that hummerz...

I put a header on years ago and removed the stock exhaust manifold. The cat was a part of the exhaust manifold assembly. With all the shaking and testing some of the old platinum and residuals are coming loose to explain the exhaust fallout.

At this point looking at the plug from the # 3 cylinder. After being installed last week when the trouble began. The plug appears dry and sort of oxidized. This leads me to believe, I am needing some help from a pro garage. If the problem is a fuel injector or some other thing out of my league.

My wife wants to take me to her toyota dealer and look at rice burners.... Thanks for all the helpful suggestions and time with this.

so did you also remove the secondary cat? cause if not it is disintigrating the header would only be your pre cat.

^^^Good call. ^^^ Not sure if I did remove it.. Based on what is falling out of exhaust. Looks like there is a secondary and its coming apart. There is some filler in the mix with the platinum thats beading out. Looks like some paper in the mix with the beads.

Still only coding PO 0300 now. The shacking vibrations seem to be less sever. Still not right.

Not ready to take it in yet for service expert here. Thinking it may be a bad injector. Not ready to tackle that project...

a plugged cat can cause a p0300 might also cause the MIL light to blink when revving.

you can mod the rear O2 sensor for testing purpouses if you have to empty the restricted and plugged cat. for catalytic efficeny below threshhold testing.
2 meg ohm resister
O2 sensor signal wire *------/\/\/\---*---------* to engine harness side (inline splice)
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! positive side of cap |----|(----* tap into sensor ground wire
4.7 UF 16-50v capacitor
cap needs to be added behind the resister to help smooth the signal.

Thanks again Bronxteck, think you are on to something with the cat failure idea...

So going back in time. Couple weeks ago started hear a tinkling noise from the rear passenger side. Evidently as the cat was failing the beads of platinum were pinging on the base of the cat. Not a very noticiple sound. "BUT THE BEGINNING OF A BIG PROBLEM" for me.

I got a rubber hammer and gave the 2nd cat a few light hits. Now I can really hear some sutff rattling around. Also some cellulose looking paper coming out. Lets see how this drama plays out....

So thinking of ways to remove breakdown debris from exhaust cat # 2 failure.

What about this possible remedy...

i had to remove mine to acess it better. the ceramic honeycomb is wrapped with some sort of a cotton or paper looking material reminds me of old school asbestos wool mat. that you probably need to also get out as not to clog the muffler any more than it might be.

Yes, the snake was NG. Looks like pulling it apart is best. Its a dirty job but some times you take one for the team...
