Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
I’ve read several of the posts with similar problems. 2006 H3 150k miles original owner. Oil is coming out the left pcv and draining into the intake manifold and onto the engine and the spark plug hole in the rear cylinder. I [deviously replaced the hose on the left in the diagram below, but just used standard emission hose and didn’t get a good seal(I only had access to 5/I I think and saw it mentioned 1/2. I just ordered the ac delco hose.
anyone know the part number or na,e for the L/elbow shaped fitting on the right side of the diagram it’s #3 in the diagram? I assume it’s another section of tubing. I wanted to order it instead of working with raw hosing.
is there any other areas I should check to cross of the list on possible causes?
H3s have no PCV Valve to replace, so where ever you got your phone screen shot is no help. Under the #4 in your diagram above there is a synthetic mesh or filter like screen that needs to be cleaned. The only wat to clean out all the crud effectively is to remove the valve cover and access it from underneath/inside.
I have used many regular old 1/2" emission hoses to replace #6 on many H3s, never an issue. You do not need a "special bended hose" or whatever that overpriced part is.
I read that thread and a bunch of others. Only logged in to get the part numbers since they are cheap and to ask if there was anywhere else to check while I’m in there.
all the auto parts stores, suppliers and people online refer to it as the pcv system or emissions hose. I figured I would use the language already being used. I understand there is no actual valve.
the #6 hose is $11 from AC Delhi on Amazon verses $9 for some tubing at oreilly and they didn’t even have 1/2. Plus clamps and the difficulty of getting everything to fit. I had to take it smart twice due to the none pre shaped hose not staying put on reassembly. Rather just have the the pre shaped ones and sorbd $2 more and bot Waste hours wrestling with it.
I’m going to look at that gause blockage filter thing mentioned. Maybe spray with carb cleaner. If it’s very blocked, I might take the cover off.
Anyone know the part numbers for the tubing in the original question?
are the gaskets for the spark coils available? They’ve deteriorated a bit.
any other areas to check?
