p302 is usually a misfire on cylinder 2 you can try swapping coil packs to see if it switches like with cylinder 1 then see if it gets a p301 the last digit of the code is the error cylinder. the p3 part is misfire if it changes with the coil then the coil is faulty. it could be a bad coil a bad spark plug a bad injector or carbon deposits in the valve seats and the most severe a valve train issue like a stretched timing chain or a burned or dropped valve or seat, cylinder issue or wiped out cam lobe

Again, when is your test due? If it was a coil or plug, the code would return immediately. Pull the coil to make sure the well is clean. Clean the plug contacts and connector and contacts on the coil.
Use top tier fuel and depending on the fuel you previously used, you may also need to clean the injectors and intake.

The code came clear and has not returned. Going for re inspection soon and expect to pass.

The problem may have been related to a faulty thermostat that I replaced recently.

Passed inspection today.

Guessing it was the thermostat issue that caused the codes on the initial failure. No problems since the thermostat install.

When I change the oil, I put the gas additive RXP in the gas to clean the fuel system - Never had an inspection failure.
Fresh oil and cleaning fuel system twice a year.
