Passing DMV inspection with codes, tricks?
Failing state motor vehicle inspections for error codes. Looking for suggestions for passing re inspections. My 2006 H3 has 100k miles and is currently registered in NJ. Seems like every 2 years when its due it fails initial and going back again and again gets expensive and frustrating.
-Would running high octane fuel help? - Can a oil change make a difference? What do you suggest.... |
a good start would be to post the codes because the other alternative for an answer would be get another vehicle that passes. problem solved no more issues.

Need the codes to help correct. Clearing the codes will not pass emissions inspection either.

Thanks! |
Your stock PCM is set to run 87 octane, higher will do nothing for you. Change the oil when the GM OLMS says to. That is why your truck has the OLM system.

We also have a 2yr test. My next test is due 2021, however I can test next year, since the test is good for 365days. Then, I will be clear until 2023.
Btw, I have a self serve kiosk close by. Failed last time for a bad 02 sensor. Mine is due in November this year and since replacing the thermostat recently clear of codes. So hoping for better luck. Seems whenever I go in they find some emissions fail they get the H3 on... |
Actually NJ is not that bad anymore. All they check is the codes. No codes and you pass. Most of the time they don't even do emissions anymore. My H3 passed last year with no working horn and my wife's Wrangler passed with no front license plate.

in NYC they will pass you with one failed IM monitor
