Default P0354 diagnosed

Was still getting a P0354 open circuit on Cylinder D. Tested the coil even though it was new, no prob there and had power at the connector. So I followed the wires down the harness. All the protective conduit was disintegrating in my hands as I followed the wires. Then I found it, the power wire to #4 had a tiny chafe in it, grounding to the valve cover!! Repaired the wire, ordered some new conduit and will be replacing ALL OF IT! Tiny things can cause big problems, stay vigilant!

Nice catch!

A while back I migrated to High Temp split-sleeve wire loom made of PET (polyethylene material) for existing wiring, comes in a bunch of sizes and withstands years under the hood without falling apart.

For a new wire run, I dig the Braided Expandable Flex Sleeve Wire Harness Loom. Comes in clear and a bunch of colors and sizes so you can always identify that run, for different accessories, lights, etc...

Nice, it’s definitely something people should pay attention to. I could definitely see someone wasting time and money replacing the ECM/PCM or any other sensor when it’s really a wire grounding out somewhere. It’s a real pain digging through your harnesses looking for shorts, better off replacing old conduit early, especially with something long lasting like those braided ones!

Definitely go with the high-temp stuff.
That braided loom looks awesome. Thanks for telling about it.
