Wow, way to stick with it. Thank you for updating this thread fairly regularly. I certainly appreciate it. As well as other people.

I'm thinking at this point to go to a thrid mechanic and do not tell them anything that has previously been done. Let them attack it at there own angle with there own working parameters.

still getting P0036. Oddly the other codes don’t come up now (so some progress maybe), but still getting that stupid P0036 for the bank 1 sensor 2 heater circuit.

unsure of what to do at this point. GM Dealer and my mechanic both say likely the ECM. But I have a hard time believing that could be it, with no other codes or symptoms. And it’s $800 to get through them and final sale (so if it’s put in and doesn’t work, tough luck).

anyone else have any hypotheses that they might have missed?
Did you ever get the engine light to stay off. My mechanic is telling me ecm also.

Have them do a THOROUGH look of wiring from the ECM to the sensors...in my case, in an almost impossible to see area, the wiring was rubbing against a hot area and shorting (causing the light issue)...unfortunately only figured that out AFTER replacing the ECM! Do this first before replacing ECM.

Do you recall where it was rubbing. Wires are pretty enclosed.

I am not sure exactly where but it was up in the engine block area. They saw it from under the vehicle with it up on a hoist.
