oil pressure light and alarm comes on at idle.
Welcome treetom, MOVED this for you to the H3 section. The New Member section states it is strictly for intros.
YEAR and Miles is always important to tech questions. There are other threads here on this topic, please search them out but do not tack on a question to dig up an Old Thread, read them.
What oil and oil filter are you using? Have you checked the oil for level and quality? Any recent work done before this started?
A common possible cause may be a bad oil pressure sensor or its wire connection and harness.

Hard to say without some data like year model miles etc...
Like said could be a bad sensor.
Certainly check the oil system thoroughly. After that, though, I would focus on the sensor. Located above the oil filter and accessible through the wheel well with the inner fender off.
I have replaced mine twice, both times the same symptoms you are describing.
I had a thread with some pictures of the tools needed. It is not a hard job with the right tools.
Check for oil leaking into the electrical connector.
