Odometer and trip odometer stops
#11
Palo "You", not your so called mechanic, disconnect both the positive and negative terminals from the battery.
Touch the positive and negative wires together. Hold them for about 30 seconds.
Reattach the positive and negative to the corresponding battery posts.
See if that works!

If it is only the odometer, you may be able to just replace the stepper motor. However, it could be a sign of a deeper problem and you really don't want to be working on an odometer yourself as you're bound to trip the tampering warnings. Problems with instrument clusters can be complex because there are so many things coming together in that unit. I've had good experiences with https://www.instrumentclusterstore.c...t_clusters.htm and I'd highly recommend talking to them. They know more than the dealerships about cluster issues as far as diagnosis and compatibility. If it can be fixed simply they'll know how to help you out, and if it needs to be replaced, they can clone your old one so you're above board if you decide to sell down the road.
