new owner question about FOB
Just bought a 08 H3. It is actually being delivered by a friend and expect to have it in 3 days. Quick question. My friend informed me there is no FOB - just a key to unlock and start truck. I assume all H3 came with a FOB or at minimum the controllers so I could buy a FOB and program? Is that right? If I do get a FOB, is the programming easy or does it require dealership. My experience from past GM vehicles is that I can program easily from the ignition key by knowing the special sequence of on and off and stuff.

Welcome to HF.
All H3/H3Ts delivered from GM with 2 keys and 2 fobs.
You can purchase OEM fobs from several online sources. I wouldn't mess with any of the aftermarket fobs.
Key fobs will need to be programmed by a dealer or locksmith with an OBDII BCM module (TECH 2 or similar).

Unaware of when GM changed to need to TECH2 program. I know H2s can program self but not the H3/H3Ts.

If you have access to either the TECH2 or another friend that has one, you might want to have them look at the BCM for for fob programming before buying fobs. It seem that many of the older I5s have a BCM memory retention problem and loose programming to the fob for various reasons beyond the scope of your thread question. I know my 07 did.
In other words, you may fork out the cabbage for 2 fobs and dealer programming and not be able to get the BCM to properly respond, at which time the dealer will try to steer you down the Rabbit Hole of a new BCM with programming...
IMHO the better route is to go aftermarket with remote start and/or alarm, they have twice the range of the OEM fobs and are easy to replace and program yourself.
Good luck.
