New Alternator not Charging
2007 Adventure 186,000 miles.
Charging light came on, after after verifying alternator was not outputting, I changed the alternator. New one is not charging. I verified the mega-fuse and wiring, and then I removed that fuse to isolate the new alternator from the battery. At idle, I was getting 3 volts off the alternator. Per a suggestion from another thread, I removed fuse 32 to force the GBCM to go to full charge. I was then reading less than 1 volt off the alternator.
Parts store cannot test the alternator out of the car, so I am just asking for a gut check. Seems that I received a bad unit from the store, but I don't want to miss something obvious either. Any experiences out there that are similar that turned out to be something other than the alternator?

I bought and installed a brand new Alternator on Mom's Pontiac back in the day, it was deader than the dead old one I was replacing. Any electrical man made part can be defective, try another.
That's the plan. I pulled the new one out again and ordered another new alternator that will hopefully be here by Wednesday. I'll get it changed out and hope that this one will work.
BTW I'm getting good at this alternator thing if anyone needs a hand
