Default Need help please removing parking brake lever from 08 H3 w manual trans

Have a 08 H3 with 5 speed manual. The parking brake was not locking down (after pressing down would pop up instantly when taking foot off). I found the connector under the driver seat was loose, but the nut was so rusted (and threads rusted to the point on no threads) that there was no way to tighten it with it in place. Being I needed to take it to the bench if I wanted any chance to turn the nut, and being the rachet wasn't working (and I figured I needed it out to work on, or replace all together), I decided to remove the pedal.

After 2 hours, it is still not out and I'm lost of next steps. I removed the 3 nuts, but being it is a manual, the back nut was under the clutch pedal frame so I had to remove the clutch pedal frame. I unplugged the sensor wire, detached the park brake release and moved the hood release cable to give more clearance. I then detached the wire under the driver seat including the bolt that holds the wire on the outside to the frame, and popped out the black rubber gasket. This is where I'm stuck. It is wiggling and loose, but no matter which way I pull, it is not able to get out. I think the main wire is so thick that it isn't allowing me to move the assembly inside, but if I push up on the wire to give more flex, then the assembly gets shoved up where it isn't able to wiggle out.

Anyone have some tips or tricks on how to get it out? Or is there a way to disconnect the main wire from the assembly? Looking at youtube, it appears on the Colorado that the wire can be disconnected, but on the H3 it almost looks like it is permanent and part of the assembly? Any advice would be appreciated - thanks

It is in the GM Hummer Service Manual... Starts on like page 17 Hummer-H3-Parking-Brake-1-4-1

Well, after fighting with it and yanking hard in all directions I got the assembly out. Good news and bad news. Well the rachet issue was due to a common thing I found on youtube where a rod gets hung up on the top frame - I released it, and it now rachets fine again. So with the assembly out I tried to remove the nut (so I could tightened and loosen) and it snapped. So question - can the cable be replaced, or is it part of the whole pedal assembly? If part of the assembly, anyone have some tricks to save me from having to replace the whole assembly? Looking on ebay, a used one is ~200+ so hoping to save this cost

maybe you can find a universal parking brake cable kit that has the ends you need.

update - I kind of fixed it. The rod/thread broke right where the nut ended. But prior to removal, it was loose, by about 1/4". So I cleaned up the threads using a new nut, and reinstalled the assembly. I attached the two back cables to the adapter and then brought the single/front cable to the adapter and as thought enough thread was sticking out to allow me to start the nut. Tightened it up, and tested and it works. I guess the only issue I might eventually get is if I need to loosen more than the amount of thread I have - but my 08 has pads on rear (not discs), and I just replaced the pads.

Pads inside of the Disc Rotor Drum to be more precise.
