Default Monsoon Subwoofer replacement?

My Monsoon subwoofer is blown and needs to be replaced. However, I think I want to go with a higher quality sub this time, but want to keep it concealed behind the rear driver-side panel. Can I just drop an aftermarket driver into the factory enclosure or is my only option the JL Audio Stealthbox?

Don't be sorry. Someone posted their install of new speakers including the sub in this section a cpl. of weeks ago. It was helpful. Glad it was here in the general H3 section or else I would of prolly missed it and had to hunt one down @ a later date. Here's that thread:

Thanks. I love that this site is still so active. Great link too. My goal is to find a sub that will fit in the factory enclosure. I'm going to open the panel and examine the woofer and area in order to find the best match.

Try JL audio...I replaced mine with a 8W1v2. Works great. I also replaced all my door speakers with JL Audio TR650-CXi coaxials. These as well as the subwoofer are 4ohms. The sounds is cleaner and sounds much better. The factory sub and speakers are 2ohm. If you're just replacing the sub, id look for a 2ohm sub. The size is 8inch.

Yes, I was looking to purchase the 8W1v2 but was concerned about the dimensions and that it wouldn't fit in place of the Monsoon sub enclosure.
