I’m experiencing the same thing in my ‘06 H3. Suspect a worn key and/or ignition cylinder pins.

What’s the downside of leaving the ingnition in ACC rather than lock, since it won’t go there? Am I in danger of running the battery down if I turn off all lights & accessories? It sounds like there’s a fan that cycles on.

For those playing along at home, yes, leaving the ignition in ACC mode with a nav system/radio (even if the power button is switched to off) will drain the vehicle's battery overnight. I found that I could prevent this by removing the fuse for the nav system, though. Kind of a PITA, but it keeps the battery from draining if you find yourself in that situation.

I've run into further complications that are detailed here.
