Pass Lock issue.... unless you have an aftermarket alarm installed in which case it may be that.

Search Pass Lock.

The 15 min clock is common with aftermarket alarms as well. When Pass Lock believes that an unauthorized ignition attempt is made, it activates a kill switch = no start until 15 minutes passes. After the 15 minutes the system considers it a new ignition attempt and if it does not make an error/believes it to be authorized, the engine starts.

Makes it so you can't hot wire it. Unfortunately, Pass Lock and some after market alarms are prone to error after some age, degradation of components, dust, bad ground, etc.....

Ignition off, pull ignition switch connector and clean the connections with crc electronic cleaner. Let dry a minute, and reconnect. Should start up immediately.

Or you could replace the switch?

Hummerz, will this work on a LH drive H3?

Would it help if he removed the junk from his key chain?

LHD or RHD same. I did notice there is a matchbox H3 on his key chain, I have a lot more weight on my key chain, never a problem with that! My point, I had the passlock issue 7yrs ago and through my research then, was to replace the ignition switch. I had the passlock issue again last year, and I didn't have to replace the ignition switch. I still have a good used ignition switch if I ever need it? Still using OE KEY & OE RKE 13+yrs later.
