I think it may be dead for good now
So I need to remove the starter to use it? I guess not that big a deal now, I've removed pretty much everything else to get to this point...
this one is 29 bucks LS Flywheel Locking Tool | KDS Performance looks to mount at the starter location.
you dont think the flywheel and starter are in the same location? they do share the same transmission dont they? i would think if they do it would be close.

FWIW, I found that same flywheel lock for LS motors on eBay and the title said (fits Colorado). I believe that truck also had the I5, didn't it?
Actually I take that back...it specifically calls out Colorados with a V8. Which is not to say definitively that it won't work, just that that ad is not really an indicator that it will.

I got the flywheel lock and some other stuff, but...I'm losing the will to do this. If I had an indoors location out of the way to work on it, sure. But I'm tired of buying specialty tools and working my way through this (slowly) when I have very little confidence that it's not going to still need the cylinder head replaced or refurbished. Certainly, the value of the vehicle is not worth scrap + what I would pay to have someone do this work. So, I'm seriously considering scrapping it. Sad, I know.
I have a JL Audio Stealthbox that's made for the Hummer, which I will likely remove and sell before scrapping, so if I do, I'll post something in here. Also have an Air Doc intake, which I could possibly also do that with, if the people buying it don't require some sort of intake.

if you can get it to an auction you will make more the donating it or a junkyard either of those you will be lucky to get 300 / 400 bucks. parting it out yourself and selling parts might net you a bit more but if going that route it might make sense to just replace the motor
