Hummer H3- all keys lost.. remote start/bypass help.
hi, yeah, I replaced the whole shebang.. i keep reading conflicting stuff on the web... but what I do think is right is.. its a passlock 2 system and it needs to be bypassed as i dont have any keys with a resistor in the key head..i know you can buy new keys with resistor in but i cant know which key to buy as there is no way to measure the correct resistance for this h3..

yeah, apologies.. you are, of course, right
this is the first time i've worked on an american vehicle and there is just so much conflicting stuff on the web.. why this info wasn't easy to find i don't know... i've spent too many hours in front of this laptop

this is getting really confusing now... so, I found a photo of a cylinder casing for a h3 and it shows three wires leading to a hall sensor in the casing.. i understand the logic, the magnet alters the resistance which changes the voltage going down the reference wire to the bcm.. only problem with mine is.. it doesn't have any wires going to a hall sensor.. it has a live and ground going to the key retention solenoid and all other wires come from the switch.. anyone able to shed some light on this? I know I must seem a little thick but Im just doing my best to learn as i go...
maybe they did a resistor mod to the ignition switch wiring. they ohm out the ignition switch and put in a resistor of that value but if you can get your ECU programmed they can just disable VATS then no more security issues.
that might be your simplest solution.

thanks buddy... i dont know if my programmer will do anything on this system ( its an Autel 508s ) but certainly worth a go...
I have oredered a remote start, that might provide a solution.. im back there on thursday so i will check all the wires coming out of the switch to see if the match up to what a passlock 2 wiring should be ie 5v reference etc..
