I am attempting to change my water temp sending unit. However, I can't get this clip in the sender wire to release the end of the old sender wire. I have screwed around for hours. Here is a photo of the thing I can't unclip. It's the end of the plug with the protective tubing on it in the foreground. HELP!
I have a 2008 Hummer H3 and I am trying to change out the water temperature sending unit. My problem is I can't figure out how to remove the old plug from the socket it is in. I have tried for hours and I can't figure the dang thing out. The photo shows the plug and I am trying to remove the plug in the foreground, that has smooth black tubing on it. HELP!
You are focusing trying to disconnect the wrong end. Push down on the visible tab (in the center where you ripped off the covering) and disconnect the electrical harness connector. Remove sensor and smooth black loom over it with the sensor.

Remove the grey safety (don't lose it!!!) then press the black clip down like normal.
