So new to the hummer world. Just picked up an 07 lux and the 265’s are in need of replacement. I know most jump up to the 315’s and they look amazing. My problem is with the I5. I plan to get a tune in the near future but for now I need to decide on tires. Due to not feeling over confident in the 4l60e I’m reluctant to run 295/75’s. These are around 1” shorter and 3/4” narrower. Would I really save that much in power/gas and trans life to justify the 295’s or should I just jump on the 315’s? Either way I’m doing a t bar crank and bilsteins all around. I’ll do a vette servo and sonnax hp kit to help the trans along with possible additional trans cooler.

 

Not much of a difference in gas mileage but the ride quality is **** and tires rub on hard turns with 315’s(I went back after not liking my 315’s).....but to each his own

 

Look into 305/70R16
33" tall and 12" wide
The best of both worlds and your mileage/overall gear ratio won't get hit as bad.

 

I ran 305 MTZs on my 07 Adventure for a decade with all the performance mods (Air Doc Intake, PP TB, MagnaFlow Cat back, PCMofNC Tune, CFS Aluminum Radiator) and it could hang with most all full sized PU/SUVs even in full off road gear. Towed a damn tandem trailer with Big Block Chaparral Bow Rider back to NE of Detroit from just S of Milwaukee..... the I5 is not under powered, but I would not run 35s on it either.

IMHO, that is THE tire size for an I5. Same diameter as the 285, same width as a 315.

 

Howdy, i run 315/75/16 since 9 or 10 years now, will keep that size on my 2006. No problem with the manual transmission and the rest.

 

I had wondered how the 35" acted on an i5 with the 5 speed, I know we have a little lower gearing. Most complaints I see about the 35's are guys with automatics and an i5

anyone running 35's on an Adventure i5 with the 5 speed?

Ran 35" for a while. They killed my MPG on the 06 3.5. Running Bridgestones off a H3X and they are quiet and handle well.
