Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
Need help: 07 H3
Battery went dead the other day. I charged it and now the ‘P’ stays on, radio stays on, and chime is dinging. Even with the key out the ignition. Have to disconnect battery to prevent draining
-ON position works
-Key turns to START but will not crank.
-I installed a new ignition switch today. Same thing.
-Passlock was deleted last year by BCM programming.
Hummer H3 codes P0340 and P0341 both point to issues with the Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor "A" circuit. P0340 indicates a general circuit malfunction, while P0341 signifies a range or performance problem. Common causes include a faulty CMP sensor, wiring issues, a loose or damaged electrical connector, or, less commonly, a problem with the engine's timing components.
This video explains how to fix the P0341 engine code:
Potential Symptoms
You might experience symptoms like:
Hard starting or intermittent starting
An engine that idles too low or too high, or has a "rolling" or "surging" idle
Misfires or a rough-running engine
Loss of engine power
The engine stalling
Possible Causes & Solutions
1. Faulty Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor:
The sensor itself can be damaged or dirty, leading to incorrect readings.
Solution: Remove and inspect the sensor. Clean any dirt, metal shavings, or sludge with a clean cloth to improve its signal.
2. Wiring and Connector Problems:
Loose or broken wires and damaged electrical connectors can cause a circuit malfunction.
Solution: Carefully inspect the wiring and connector for the CMP sensor for any damage or corrosion. Try pushing the connector together to ensure a secure connection.
3. Timing System Issues:
Although less common, problems with the timing chain, belt, or tensioner could cause the camshaft timing to be off, triggering the sensor codes.
Solution: If the sensor and wiring checks don't resolve the issue, a mechanic should inspect the engine's timing components to ensure they are correctly synchronized.
Next Steps
Inspect the CMP Sensor: Check for any obvious damage or contamination to the sensor.
Check Wiring and Connectors: Ensure the electrical connection to the sensor is secure and the wiring is intact.
Diagnose Engine Timing: If the above steps don't work, the vehicle may need a professional inspection of its timing components.
Disconnected the (recharged) battery for 30s. Reconnected and boom. Started right up.
I can’t believe this.
Will scan for codes. Thanks.
Are you still trying to use the Crappy Azzed OEM Battery Terminal Connectors?????? If so, big mistake. First mod to be done to every H3/H3T is to hack the OEM Terminal Connectors off and replace with a quality aftermarket set like Stingers or your favorite brand.
