1, it should act the same turning left/right if its locked in hi lock.

2, the noise could be the chain jumping the gears in the transfer case,NOT A GOOD THING!!
I would not drive it this way.
you need to find a shop that knows 4 x drive.

did you try backing up turning left/right to release it?
if that works sometime the t case needs work.
this has been discussed here endlessly, 2nd only to tires or the fan sw problem.

btw,the 06 had a plastic shift fork in the tase. it gave this trouble.

Eventually it drove a little better after a while but I fear if I keep driving it I will just break something else. What the hummer community should do is start a petition to get this problem recalled because sooner or later that plastic piece in the transfer case will break. They should put the metal ones in them like they did in the newer models. THIS IS A DEFECT. Let's do something about it.
I agree with you. EVERYONE WHO HAS HAD THE PROBLEM IN THE PAST OR IS CURRENTLY HAVING THE PROBLEM NEEDS TO CONTACT GM AND PUT IN A COMPLAINT. THE MORE COMPLAINTS, THE MORE THEY ARE INCLINED TO LOOK INTO IT. PLEASE CALL GM AT 1-800-732-.5493. I placed a complaint today after seeing so many blogs about others having the same problem. CALL!!!

Mary Bara will probably call you back soon for your at least 9 year old out of warranty truck from a post bankruptcy non existent company to personally resolve the issue, no doubt.

In the future, pleas avoid digging up OLD threads, no reason to do it.
