Default Stuck in 4wd

My 06 is stuck in 4wd... can't turn sharp, tearing up tiers. Even though the dealership said that it was the tiers being low in tread that made it hard to turn, or hop as it was doing. I have read the threads about the mode fork, and know that it is faulty. I have replaced the tiers, problem not fixed, and I am waiting to take it to a personal mechanic when he gets freed up. So my question is this... CAN I TAKE THE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT OUT FOR THE TIME BEING SO THE VEHICLE WILL TURN REGULARLY?? Will this cause any more damage??

Your dealer is an idiot. Your mode fork is broken and needs repaired, or more appropiately replaced. Yes you should be able to remove the front drive shaft and drive it with the front end not binding like it is now. It should not cause any more damage.

I would definitely find someone else to work on it than that dealer, since they have no clue about how to troubleshoot the problem, they probably couldn't fix it to save their life.

^x2 Sounds like a broken shift fork. They use to be made of plastic!!

They (a good dealer) will replace the plastic fork in the transfer case with a new metal fork and yoru issues should be taken care of.

I know this may sound stupid, but have you tried to "flick" the 4lock button? They do sometimes stick in and won't let you shift back to 4HI!

Double check your buttons also. There are thread on this forum about them getting stuck.
