Default H3 stuck in 4wd

Ok , 2006' H3 with 130k miles is stuck in 4wd HI (LOCK) , I have done research here and figure its probably the plastic shift fork issue... Its really jumping and hopping the tires when turning... Unfortunately its below zero everyday, which causes me to have to work overtime everyday , plus this is the wifes everyday driver ,so I dont have time to tear the transfer case out right now.. Question is : will removing the front driveshaft allow this thing to be " somewhat normal" for her until I can fix it?? Its terrible to try and turn in a parking lot or go around a street corner like it is... I realize the transfer case would still be in 4WD.... I have tried shifting from in to out to 4 low to 4 high etc, backing , turning while trying it etc, for 2 weeks, and I can hear the actuator clicking when it is shifted from hi to low and back, but no noise going from std drive to 4 high lock......it aint coming out...

It's always in 4wheel drive. Are you saying your stuck in 4hi lock? Or 4 low lock? If your trying to get it into 2wd drive then you don't know your hummer. I don't know for sure but removing front shaft should free up the front but not sure what effects that have as when it's in 4 hi- not locked I think power is split 40 front and 60 rear.

yes I know its always in 4WD , but its stuck in 4 Hi lock ....I'm not worried what would happen when its in 4WD (not locked) as it wont go to 4WD (not locked) , thats the issue .... its stuck in 4wd HI Locked .... just wanting it to be driveable (In 4WD HI lock ) until I replace the shift fork with the new aluminum one ..

its been discussed here. for TWO wheel drive, unhook a driveshaft and keep it in high lock.
I have no idea how it would feel in rear OR front drive only.

I can say, in snow, there is a dramatic difference in a jeep in rear only, it don't go!! im surprised jeep isn't front drive in 2wd

Then you are NOT in 4HI Lock.

if your wife has been driving it daily for 2.5 months with the same issue you have way bigger issues than what you started out with.

in, or out,, that is the question. i know one thing, cats, when the're in they want out, when the're out they want in.. so is the cat in or out!?
if it dont go you are not locked,so were you? if you were locked then if you lost a driveshaft you would still go.
you should really get a second opinion from any other hummer driver you can find, anywhere...
nothing is making sense here.

By chance did you take notes and pics or videos? That could help future forum members with questions.

STUCK IN THE 4 HI POSITION, this is where we all drive, down the road, to the store, etc.

so you never had a steering problem??, a lock problem??

or do you still have ,,a problem.
