Default H3 - Only One Speaker is Working

'07 H3 Factory base CD/Radio - Just the front/right speaker is working.

I don't think all the speakers quit simultaneously, I'm guessing that there must be a short somewhere?

Anyone see this before and/or can send me in the right direction for the fix?

Thanks.

The radio in question looks exactly like this one:

Actually.... you other speakers just plain old puked out. It did not happen simultaneously, but first you lose say one of the back door speakers, never notice it. Then another, etc until it is obvious you only have one or two still working. The tweeters in the A Pillar seem to outlast door speakers.

Same thing has happened to a bunch of us.

The good news is now you can replace the factory junk speakers with an upgrade!

Thanks Doc. That's amazing.

Can you point me in the direction of a popular / reasonable source for speaker replacement? Not looking to spend a ton of money.

Also, can you suggest a decent internet "how to?"

Much appreciated. Thank you.

Here is a basic primer from here. https://www.hummerforums.com/forum/h...acement-29198/

There are more. I would not bother with using the old foam. Instead I used 6.5" XTC Foam Baffles to mount 6.5" Pioneer 3 way speakers, got it all on ebay.

Here is another: https://www.hummerforums.com/forum/h...ers-get-33044/

You can go to Crutchfield's web site, search sizes, info, accessories, then see if you can source it cheaper.

Thanks so much Doc!! Excellent advice, I really appreciate that!

Also, I was reading something here about the H3s warning chimes routing through the speakers. Right now, with only the right-front speaker working, I don't have any chimes?

Does that indicate anything specific? I should hear a chime when I open the drivers door with the keys in the ignition, right?

TIA!
