Default Front end clanking noise

I have a 2008 H3 that has a clanking noise but I only hear it when I turn too far left or right going up into my driveway. And I have to give it extra gas. I can turn the steering wheel as far left and right as I can when it’s in neutral and have no problem.
Please help

We cannot hear your "clanking noise" so what you are asking is difficult to respond to.

The H3 has a tight (TIGHT) turning radius, more so than most vehicles. Purpose is to navigate off road obstacles. When in gear the front drivetrain will make it feel almost like there is some binding. Neutral removes load from the equation and changes that dynamic.

I would suggest you not turn "too far" and problem solved. You do not need to do that on pavement.

Is your H3 on stock tires and wheels?

I think Tainter was the one with the answer. He said switch from 4HI to 4HI LOCKED to 4LOW LOCKED to 4HI LOCKED and back to 4HI listening for a click from 1 switch to the other. And that worked. Haven’t had that problem since. THANKS TAINTER

That's great you found the problem. Hopefully you didn't cause any damage driving on dry pavement locked?
Check and make sure your lights work on the panel, they light up when key is turned to the on position.
