Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
My '07 is in the garage for restoration getting my TLC whenever my time is available on any given day started here> Headlight
My brake pads-rotors-hoses are junk scrap rotted ....
I thought I could save the calipers however I was only able to get 3 of 4 pistons to retract/extend on the drivers side caliper which immediately sent me looking for a rebuild kit along with a NEW set. All here ready to install:
While installing the new brake hose on the passenger side I bumped the engine mount heat shield and heard a rattle. Pulled the 10mm head bolt and installed a bracket I found in my hardware tool chest. Shield is now secured tight no rattle.
I also found the intermittent transmission fluid leak coming from a band clamp that I cut and replaced with 2 14-16mm heavy duty hose clamps.
You might could sell those shield clamps, as the shield is probably no longer made
Why did you leave the cut hose crimp flare on the pipe?
#1-That bracket is from an old aluminum screen door I took apart as I always save hardware to repurpose and currently have a 5 drawer tool chest + a couple toolboxes filled with hardware: nuts- bolts- screws- washers- brackets- etc+++++++a lot more... that I've collected over many decades.
#2- I left the cut crimp clamp on the tube for photo purpose only.
I've cut many tubing crimp clamps over the years and I simply made this cut with a cut off wheel attached to my 19.2v craftsman drill driver just deep enough to split the remaining with my slotted screwdriver. After removing the crimp clamp I noticed the hose was split on the top & cut 1/2" from the hose then proceeded to secure the hose with 2 heavy duty clamps.

Hummerz, agreed...
Advantages of reuse cannot be understated. Like DaVinci, being creative in solving problems in all things is a art and science...
Like the way you re-purposed, to fix a example of many of the challenges folks with older classic and other vehicles face.
Keep up the great tips ~!
