Post Electrical issue or ECM or ?

I need some help with an electrical issue – I had a P0788 – (3-2 Downshift Solenoid).

I was about 200 miles from home and just manually up shifted from a dead stop when needed (basically when pulling out of a gas station) The radio played the entire way home.

Took it to the transmission shop, they said the solenoid shorted and replaced it.

Driving home from the Trans shop, the radio worked. The next day my radio would not come on (aftermarket double din with the OnStar/door chimes harness from Crutchfield / non-Monsoon), then I noticed my grille lights were not coming on. I checked the #13 fuse, and it was good, the climate control works (it is on the same fuse).

It’s odd to me that the climate control works, but the other 2 items on the fuse don’t.

PCM Reset didn't work, I touched battery cables together for 60 seconds then left unhooked for about 15 minutes and still didn't get the radio or the grille lights working.

Sounds like a shorted wire somewhere? but I have no idea where to start looking… or which (ugh) wiring harness to trace. Could it be one of the controllers somewhere?

I have replaced the battery terminals last year with good ones and they are nice and tight.

I’ve read about the drain tube issues and do have that, but it has been minimal water in the passenger floor. The PO silicone the sunroof (mostly anyway, not a great job of making it completely water tight) There was no rain for the week that the solenoid went out and the time I got it back.

If it is the ECM who is better PCMofNC or FS1inc? I have had the key fob’s and keys done by a local locksmith, so I don’t know if they are programmed to the original VIN or if I will have to have them come out and reprogram if I get a replacement ECM

It’s a 2007 H3 base / 3.7

Thanks

There is no PCM reset touching cables together, clicking your red ruby shoe heels together, hoping for the Great Pumpkin, you PCM stores the last 300 ignition cycles, battery or no battery.

You acknowledge a plugged sunroof drain, fix it, and using silicone has zero to do with that problem. There might have been no rain, but how much water was seeping out of the drain plug? Search for the fix for clogged sunroof drains, check our H3 FAQ section, google it for vids.

Your PCM does not get damaged from plugged sunroof drains, but your BCM can. Once wet, damage has been done. Think of it like a cell phone, if it gets a little tiny bit wet, it still is messed up.

And from here out, post one question one time and wait..................... for answers.
