Think of a diode as a one-way valve for electricity. If you put it in back-wards the electricity will not flow in the direction you want it to. In this case with the Hummer, no harm, no foul.

So with this mod, will the day time lights be off during the day now?

DO NOT BE FRIGHTENED BY THIS MOD!!

I am fairly handy, but far from a total gear-head. I followed the instructions I found on another forum and it went smooth as silk. Seriously. Simple, simple, simple.

Didn't check this thread totally, but if the schematic isn't here I can get it to you.......schematic on page one....simple!

It literally took me 10-12 minutes.

DRLs are on during the light of day, nothing else is on.

After dark, the headlights come on as normal and the DRLs STAY ON ALSO....regardless if the headlights are on low or high beams.

VERY pleased.

More lighting? Always a good thing and it cost 0.99$ for the diodes at Radio Shack (you get two in the small package...).

Cheers!

PS. Did this yesterday (Dec 4) to my H2....

I've said this before, THIS WILL NOT ADD MORE LIGHT AT NIGHT! The DRLs add very very very little light, that very little amount will get drowned out by the headlights. This is more of a "look" mod. I did this mod before. Also there is a risk that this mod can cause problems with your fuse box as its happened to owners before. I also bought the cheap ebay LEDs to replace the bulb in there (don't do it). Neither does anything. The only thing that will add light is to take out the DRLs and put in HIDs in that housing. You can buy 4 inch HIDs off ebay that will fit perfectly in that hole and will almost double your light output.

True, true, true this is an appearace more than a function modification....

There is a slight addition of lighting but it is modest for sure.

We simply removed the DRL housing. It leaves about a 4.5 inch hole. A 4 inch enclosed HID light off ebay will fit perfectly in them. Just run a switch to under your dash and you can turn them on and off whenever you like.

I know that they dont make a HID bulb that will fit in the DRL housing. Secondly I wouldnt try and make one fit as it will probably melt the housing. The ebay $200 route is an already built enclosed HID assembly with built in ballast and it fits perfectly in there and pretty simple to do.
