Default Brake Hose Cracks

Replaced the rear brake pads on my 2008 3.7L on Saturday and noticed some cracking on the left rear brake hose (see images below).

Anyone able to offer insight on how to proceed? Does this need to be addressed/replaced sooner rather than later? Anything I can or should do now that might be considered a quick patch or band aid? Haven't noticed any leaks or issues specific to this side that would concern me up to this point but it doesn't seem ideal to me. Also, I'm having a hard time identifying this specific part. Can anyone confirm that this part is GM Part #19366688 – Brake Hydraulic Hose

Nothing to worry about now. You can wrap it with a heavy duty silicone/rubber/pvc tape. to protect the inner reinforcement from failure.

19366688 is the correct PN for the GM replacement lines.

I am of the school to go with OEM or better when replacing parts.
I went with the complete kit from Crown. If one is cracking the others are not far behind.
I also purchased the SS hard line kit SKU:CBK0067OM because I had a line that was fused to the distribution block. Spun the line (kink) and figured I would have replacement lines if I need them.
1 year later one of the front lines cracked and I had all the parts to replace the soft and hard lines already!
Perfect fit by the way.

That is the parking brake cable, correct?

Thanks for the insight. I went ahead a ordered some of the tape that hummerz linked and will just wrap that end for now since I didn't see any issues with the other side. Might need to go back and check the front hoses now, though.

@Justinh I am really not sure. That's one of the things I was trying to figure out when I was looking over the weeked. I traced it from the upper rotor backing plate like you see in my picture down the outside of the frame probably 25-30 inches where it attached to some other bracket, I believe. Either way, I'll still tape it up and monitor that area for now.

Yeah, you should tape it to prevent further degradation, but it is the parking brake cable. The hydraulic hose is still connected to the caliper ;-)
