Yeah, he said 2 quarts and the invoice says 2 quarts. That's probably what he was looking at. I'll bet the mechanic rounded up. Who knows how much they put in.

It's still driving fine and hasn't binded up. I think it's finally fixed. I love the way it drives and can turn on a dime.

Smile melted shift fork

2006 H3 at the GMC/Hummer dealer, finally an answer "melted shift fork" but everyone here already knew that. $775 job, GM field rep did not help with any costs denied the problem exists. The service manager was clueless as to the problem but the mechanic or "Hummer Tech" knew what I was suggesting as the problem cause he himself has "replaced 300-400 of those melted shift forks". He says every owner of a 2006 and early 2007 H3s has the problem, if they don't claim to they are in denial "Doc Olds" or little old ladies who only drive around the block a few times each week.
Thanks to Hummer Forum for the info leading to solving the problem, this after contacting clueless Hummer Customer Service and several GMC service reps at dealerships over the past 3 years.

Yeah, mine shifts in and out of lock without any problem now after the fork was replaced. I also noticed the mechanic attached (bolted or screwed) the electrical harness to the TC. Before, it was just hanging down. I'm glad he did that. Thanks for posting humdog and it'll be worth every penny.

Talking too expensive you say

dafihummer~the fork was $27, sealant $17, Dexron VI $11, seal $50, gasket $12, labor was $587. Could have cut labor in half at a local shop if Hummer Customer Service hadn't baited me into having the work performed at a dealership. (Thinkin' a class action lawsuit against GMC forcing a recall really should happen now that GM is makin' money again.) Agreed, $775 to replace a plastic shift fork is way toooo expensive, plastic never should have been in a transfer case. The labor costs are all relative dafihummer, relative to location for sure. Labor is cheap and life might be good in Lebanon, it would be all fun and games at the Sky Bar in Beirut ....until drtom & I headed out at 4AM in our Hummers packed with ex-pats on a bombed out road to Damascus.

Lol Humdog, it's true about life here and the sky bar, looks like you've been here before.. Roads are pretty good though, nowadays, hardly any battle scars..dont know about the Syrian side though, the whole show is repeating itself on the other side of the border...

I see from your post , you paid for sealant, seal and gasket... there is no gasket or seal on the TC.. you just have to use extreme high temp sealant..that's all..there was none on mine anyway...

Any trip to Beirut by any one of you guys, most welcome..life here is really good at the moment and still cheaper than most place..

Default about the gasket

dafi~if you had a certified Hummer mechanic working on yours Ha! maybe he would have replaced gasket #15642511 & seal #8905945 and not just the sealant #88861417 between two case halves. guess the gasket/seal refer to the input and output shafts, at least I saw what appeared to be a new input shaft gasket, just saying.
