Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
Grab the front drive shaft like it is your pay check and try to move/wiggle/rotate it and see if it makes noise. If the rear CV Joint allows play, you can hear that in the front U Joint as well.
ohh okay great I’ll try to do that when I get home . It only does that when go to D or R and sometimes P
i hope that it’s the U joint I’ll just replace the whole thing include the cv and call it a day. I’ll check and update today
I swapped the whole drive shaft with a new one and the clung now happen from like R to D
The old shaft was busted anyway so the money didn’t go to waste
The sound is coming from the front differential, I made more research and some folks saying that the front differential carrying brackets the right and left part 15856422 and 15856421
they said online that if those wore out it can cause a big clung noise when shifting from D to P to R just like what’s happening to me .. hmmm any inputs to that?
Yep, they are definitely a problem, especially being this old. I think I'm starting to hear what you are describing. You'll have to get an aftermarket solution, as the GM #s are discontinued.
