Default Battery Drain From Power Seat

Hey guys, new member here.

I’ve put an offer on an ‘07. The main thing to pass the safety is the drivers power seat needs to be unplugged otherwise it drains the battery.

What can I test to see whats causing the drain?

I’ve paid for the pre-purchase inspection, so I haven’t paid for the vehicle yet. I wanted to do that to make sure I wasn’t in for a bunch of other repairs.

I'll recommend you spend some time watching gm related videos from Pine Hallo auto and South main auto on youtub. There pretty much the guys I watch and have learned a ton. I've had to watch other vehicle styles but the GM stuff is similar so it helps.

For safety reasons, you need to unplug the seat, since there is a chance you could be ejected through the sunroof.

Yeah, it’s stupid. Unfortunately, here in Ontario the requirements to certify a vehicle was changed, and the check list is a lot bigger than it used to be.

I don’t understand why it can’t stay plugged in for the test then unplugged again.

Check the fuses - under hood and in the cab. Also check your battery cables - a short can easily drain the battery. Additionally, a faulty interior light - I had my battery drain once - ended up finding a corroded interior light (this was on my H1) down by the floor. I cleaned up the connection, installed a new bulb, - no battery issues.

Best of luck - I hope you find the gremlin.
