Default Back Up Lights?

So, anybody add some backup lights to their H3? H3T guys feel free to pitch in. I don't mean swapping out the OEM back up bulbs, that's easy and when one of mine pukes, I likely will swap in some LEDs looking for more light. I am not going to dangle some under the rear bumper either for obvious reasons. No not some top of the rear door light bar thing either....

I'm thinking something built into the back bumper? With the License Plate mount and D Ring back there it might be a challenge. Maybe the spare wheel center or in the spokes might work? Just chewing on ideas.

Doc, I picked these up on clearance at Menards for $18/pair. They mounted real nice without any modifications to the safety chain slots on either side of the hitch receiver. I used thumb ***** for mounting and quick disconnect harnesses so if I needed to use safety chains it was an easy R&R. I wired them in to the trailer wire harness reverse wire, but also added a switch and a separate wire to turn them on independent of reverse. I put a diode in each of the lines to prevent current back-feed. They're bright as hell! Got these several months ago so I'm sure they're gone, but you can pick up the same 4" x 4" led spots or fogs just about anywhere. Good luck.

BTW....they don't hang lower then the hitch receiver so they're protected when wheeling.

OK, I am trying to "picture" where scoreh3 put those exactly. The size would allow them to go in the bumper by making the right sized hole..

Interesting.

That looks good, but the on and off when I tow stuff might be a pain???? Now that the youngest is done with collage, the towing stuff will be way down. Thanks for the pics.

those caps are 1-1/2"(pops out using a finger nail), drill a 3/8" hole in the center and mount with nut.

You could also eliminate the cap and install 1-1/2" round led. You would need an oversized washer or plate to mount the stem.

1-1/2" led

DOC,
Skippys rig:
Spare tire light, you could use 2 - 4" cubes pointed left and right?
I wanted to replicate the red euro "fog" lights on this one and use floods for the H3. Then we went to 2 "Ts".

My "T". unless you are going to do a muffler delete this probably won't work for you

What diode did you use? I used the same trailer harness for my "T" lights and I get a "fuzzy" reverse camera signal when they are on.
Please advise.

Thanks you guys! Good stuff. I could not remember where I saw the spare center light, but now I do..... bringing back the old memory Taint.

Keep the ideas flowing if there are more out there.
