I meshed the Airdoc intake, because of the breather fitting, to a K&N Cone enclosure to remove res box. I didn’t like the feel. Not sure about gains but I removed this and returned the res bax on. Response in the pedal wasn’t the same. No codes no issues no problems just an opinion for my Rig.

14 year OLD thread bump?

When you use an "open" intake with the cone filter over in the corner behind a feeble heat barricade, you lost most of your potential gain to heated intake charge and intake manifold temps.

The OEM Air Filter Box is designed to pull in the coolest air available from outside the underhood environment. The idea being get rid of the restrictive components (accordion hose and resonator box) and replace with smooth high velocity pipe/couplers to move that cool air to the TB ASAP without obstruction. And yes, aftermarket hi flow OEM replacement air filters (cylinder 2006/7 and panel 2008+) flow as well as most any cone, but offer more element to filter intake air all while being protected from water, ice, snow, mud and crud insider the box!

@Doc Olds Thank you for the great sound advice! Should I then be looking for an enclosed box system? I have seen them out there. Venom, I believe makes an enclosed system for the H3. I could be mistaken on the name tho

You just need the OEM Air Filter Box with your favorite brand aftermarket air filter in it, add an Air Doc Intake to that and it's all good.

It is your truck, go with whatever makes you smile and enjoy it.
