aftermarket CAI Box with Airdoc Intake?
i've caught the CAI bug that seems to be with every Hummer owner looking for the quick performance upgrade.
After reading every thread I could to avoid necro on any of them, the going opinion seems to be a airdoc intake is the easiest choice.
my question is this, can I combine a airdoc intake with a Volant CAI box or similar. I hate the look of the stock box and would love to make a change that keeps the air cold and performance high. I know the resonator box has to go from what I've read. the issue seems that most aftermarket CAI boxes use the resonator...
So can I get around this somehow? what do you all recommend?

OK, so I'll bite..................
First, the factory Air Filter Box flows plenty of air and does a pretty good job of what it was designed for, it grabs air from outside the engine compartment. If you have an I5, it is no issue at all, flows more than enough no matter what mods you through on the 3.5L or 3.7L. The weak spots are the resonator box and accordion style couplers.
Volant boxes might look cool (pun intended), but mostly they take money out of your wallet and they have a tiny flaw with their H3 design. Not only do they draw outside air from the same source as the factory box, they have a hole at the bottom that tries to make more air available, but it is inside the engine compartment and pretty close to the side of the radiator. That means warm air is getting in.
There are some people that have combined the two like you asked with the I5 H3s, not sure of all the details, but I would put the money saved by skipping the aftermarket air filter box in a much better performance location, .... a PCM tune from PCMofNC. I have referred them a ton of customers and they provide some real results in combination with an intake. They also make a darn nice Efan conversion to boot.

Thanks for the input, the forum has been very helpful.
i figured the existing airbox was good for the time being, ive tried to read all the existing threads on the subject before i start poking threads. I just dislike the look, not the function.
Ive seen the PCM reccomendations and will be looking into that down the line.
For now ill start with the air filter and airdoc intake as my first upgrade from stock. The box change will probably wait until i have money to burn after the exhaust change.

I just installed a cold air intake bought the intake on ebay and made it fit to my stock box by cutting the maf end on stock box pretty much use the box as a heat shield thinking bought cutting a piece of the airbox cover and installing some plexi glass to make it look aftermarket
