3rd brake light and defroster connector stuck
Thanks Doc. I’d like to stick with the original connector if possible to avoid having to replace the existing pins with one’s compatible with a different style connector. I don’t have any of the GM style pins or associated crimp tool and don’t do this type of work enough to justify the expense of buying the tool. Hoping to just de-pin the existing connector housing and replace it with the same thing.
^^^^^^^^ Exactly what I was going to suggest, Doc. His is not a WeatherPak. O.P., you don't need to take yours apart. Cut the connectors off, buy the WeatherPak in Doc's picture, and crimp new terminals on. There are special tools for crimping the terminals on, but if careful enough you could do it with needle nose pliers.

I do appreciate all the advice, and sure I could do the things recommended, but for me it seems a lot easier/cleaner to depin/repin into a new OEM connector housing vs. rewiring the tail gate harness to use after market connectors. I could just use spade connectors if I wanted to do that.
Besides, the factory wasn't particularly generous with any extra cable in the harness, so by the time you cut out the old connector, and repin the harness for a WeatherPak its iffy if there is enough length left over to actually connect the two halves, and then I'm in to splicing in a few more inches of wire to give enough service loop in the harness.
So, if anyone has or knows the part number(s) for that connector that would be a great help. In the meantime, I'll keep looking at used tailgate harnesses on eBay until I find one that has both halves of the connector in it.

There are some on eBay, this 1 appears clean:>>>> 15884104
Contact the seller and see if they can include the mating connector you need with some wiring(pigtail).
Replace the harness and self solder heat shrink the connector.
