2008 H3 3.7 to 5.3 swap
Hi all, I have a 2008 H3 that the motor is blown in, and I’d really like to get it running again. Money is tight, and trading it isn’t an option. My dilemma is this- 3.7 engines are never in any pick and pull around me or available for anything less than out of my price range, but 5.3 engines are all over the yards. What I have not been able to find an answer to is other than changing the wiring harness and modifying some mounts, will the transmission and transfer case from the 3.7 be compatible with the 5.3? I really just can’t afford to do a whole new transmission. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, and I’d love to hear that everything will just bolt right up.

I am in the same boat. My engine still running but not that great. If you do a search you will find your answers & from what I have read it's not what you want to hear. Good Luck

Do a search. There's several threads. No it is not a direct replacement and no it is not easy or cheap.

Dont do it if you cant afford it! Its not cheap.
best option considering H3 prices today, get a replacement engine, sell it, buy an Alpha.
if you have deep pockets, go ahead, but dont stop at a 5.3 (the only cost diff between a 5.3 swap and a 6.0 swap is the price of the block itself)
Even better option, get a replacement engine for the 3.7, sell it, buy an alpha, drop in a 6 litre, sell the 5.3. Your cost will be much much less.
Or buy a totalled H3 alpha and swap the engine/accessories/trans/exhaust/wiring/pcm.....

If you want to find a used 3.7L, digging up OLD AZZED Threads here is not going to get it done.
