Got everything together yesterday. Noticed the parking brake was stuck on, and after a few minutes of fiddling, realized the cable tension was too high. Loosened it and the brake is working properly now.

Took it on its maiden voyage and it runs and drives! Have some new DTCs to investigate, and also working some air out of the trans from all of the new components. Things are definitely on the positive side!!

I seem to have spoken too soon. He got about 40 miles out of it before it started doing the same thing as before. Runs and idles fine, but the second you shift to reverse or drive it stalls.

Looks like the transmission is coming back out.

Also, none of the DTCs after installing the transmission were related. The LED tail light bulbs caused a blinker circuit fault.

 

Cheap LED tail lights/bulbs do not play nice with the CAN bus. Known issue.... you have to use CAN bus compatible units.

 

I am happy to report, that after rebuilding the transmission, we are on the road!

Bought a kit from global transmission and followed the transmission workbench 4L60E videos. It took some time, but we did it and he is more than excited to be driving his car that he worked on. Many thanks to everyone that offered assistance along the way.
