Default Fuel Pressure?

Hi there folks, my brother owns a 2003 Hummer H2 and it dies on him while driving. He is trying to troubleshoot the problem.

Does anyone know what the fuel pressure should be? He is trying to verify the fuel pump is pushing enough pressure. He wants to make sure before committing to buying the pump.

He has replaced the fuel filter and relay and still a no go.

Thanks everyone!

It sounds like it is def. the fuel pump. If it runs for a while after you have let it cool down for a long while then dies then it is more then likely the fuel pump. With ethanol in the gas now, it will cause the fuel pump to crap out.

Update: The fuel pump was replaced and the H2 appeared to work for like an hour then it died again. It would not restart right away, after about 5 minutes it started again. It was verified the the fuel is pumping gas.

No check engine lights either.

He is going to buy the fuel pump relay and see what happens.

Any other ideas?

Thanks guys!

No, but if you keep replacing parts you will eventually figure out what it is. Repairs like that are frustrating. Let us know when you finally get it figured out.

UPDATE:

Finally gave in and called a mechanic with computer diagnostics background. The computer quickly indicated the CRANKSHAFT SENSOR was faulty.

We replaced it and sure enough it's now working fine!

The sensor was like 60 bucks and he charged me a total of 20.00 bucks to install it. The guy came to my house as well.

Thanks all.

Good going. Sounds like you found a good guy to keep on file. Glad to hear you got it fixed for a very reasonable price, including a house call!!!

I have an 2003 H2. My engine starts for a couple seconds and dies. About a month ago it's idle speed was about 1,500rpm and then jumped down to 500rpm lately. I also heard a small noise coming from the engine and sounded like it was under the air cleaner. Wasn't sure if it was a misfire or maybe a click type noise. Is it possible that I have either a bad Camshaft Position Center, and or Cranshaft Postion Center?
