Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

What is the best year H2?

I would disagree that the 6L80 is not any stronger than the 4L65E,

Ah - yeah not sure what I was thinking but yes I'd agree the 6L8x series are definitely stronger transmissions than the 4L6x series. That being said with a proper rebuild a 4L6x can be rebuilt to be more than plenty strong enough. Me personally, I would prefer the newer 6 speed 6L80.

The 08 and 09 H2 has the ability to be shifted manual (paddle shifter on steering wheel), Limit high gear in manual (shifts auto but will only go the selected high gear) or fully auto.

Not sure if my explanation was clear on my last post,

Neal

I have had two 2006 models and recently moved to a 2008 - in my mind there is no comparison, the 2008 is a far better vehicle in every way. Much more power, better economy, far smoother transmission and a much nicer interior. Mine only has 85k miles on it but there are no rattles or squeaks at all. I am very pleased w/ the upgrade!

2008 and up, hands down!
New interior. New TRW hydroboost system. New 6 speed trans. New 6.2 / 400+HP engine.

When I get tired of the 04, I will be buying a 08 or 09.

I have more than one reason, so I will say...

1. More 6.0 engine parts to choose/pick from (aftermarket, and stock parts)

2. Dash *******.

3. More spare parts, interior changes were huge in 2008+.... older models stayed closer to each other, especially 2004-2007.

4. Older models are less "Escalade" and more badass. If I wanted Paddle shifters I'd buy a car with them.

Yup …. I'm with ya on those points.
Also guys that build engines say the 6.0 is abetter
gas pot powerplant for the H2 than the 6.2.

Also was wondering if anyone here has had a good experience with powering the /05 with a GM Diesel engine / trans / transfer case transplant?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Regards;
