Well with the rear driver side wheel well I can see easily on top of the tank. It looked s little dark on the far side so I thought I’d see if it felt wet... well as soon as I touched the vent on the pump it fell off. The pump is rusted right through. This is most likely the problem. I know I have seen others stating same if the forum and on line.

Going to order a new pump and licking ring. If I remember right there are 1 or 2 sensors on top of the tank. Can anyone get me a part number or name? I’m searching for them. Might as well replace them too while I have the tank down.
Nice diagnostic work! Definitely a new locking ring, most modules today not included. Also, be sure to clean out the tank and don't reuse any fuel. GL

Thanks, I planned on dumping the gas. What should I clean the tank with? Or is it just a matter or draining it... and inspect with s light.

Dump the gas and clean out any rust/debris that may be in there. There is a filter on the pump, better to elliminate any restrictions. GL

Hello fellow HUMMER owners. I know this thread is old but I'm experoencing the same issue with 09 H2. So far, I've replaced the gas cap with another factory OEM one but the "Tighten Gas Cap" indicator still illuminates while driving. The previous owner undercoated the entire undercarraige and then some, so I can't find any signs of fuel leakge or rusty fuel components.

I appreciate the feedback. After reviewing everything, it looks like I will be taking my H2 to the repair shop to solve this issue. Once again, I appreciate the feedback.
