Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Default 05 H2 binding while turning

I read thru a thread about this problem on the h3 forum - and my '05 H2 is doing the exact same thing... Intermittantly "engaging" 4Hi Lock when backing out of driveway, or sometimes when first starting out in drive moving forward, but almost always only with wheels turned either left or right.
I'm fairly savvy about the truck's functions and am an avid off roader (it is not accidentally in 4Hi lock) - it seems to break free after backing up, then rolling forward a couple times, but it is driving me nuts.
The H3 thread focused mostly on a plastic mode fork in the TC. Does the 2005 H2 have the same issue / part?

I read in here about the skid plates binding. I have confirmed it as well. I have a dent in my front skid and sure enough it will POP. Almost sounds like a cv axel going bad but nope just the plate.

This is the second time in 2 1/2 years that I have had to replace the bearings in the right front wheel on my 04' H2 One day I am going to get the right tools to replace it myself...$750 parts and labor at NTB The initial symptoms were a groaning/moaning sound coming from the right front wheel well area...occassionally I would here a high pitch squealling as well... Would hear the noises especially early in the morning while turning to the left...

I too am have the squeeling problem while turning. It generally only happens when turning right at slow speeds when the vehicle is cold. Goes away after about 10 miles. I pulled everything off of the driver side (tire, caliper, pads, caliper frame) just to check things out. Nothing out of order. I did however notice that when I had everything back together still on the jack that there is alot of play in the entire assembly. ie: can "wiggle" the tire. Checked the passenger side as well and it does the same thing. Is this normal???

jamdd2005, I just got mine repaired and it was the bearing in the right front wheel... no more squealling or groaning any more... sad thing is that this is the second bearing I have replaced in the right wheel in the past 2 years I'm not one to know whether that "play" you are talking about is normal or not...maybe someone who knows more will post on that...

If you jack your tire off the ground and can wiggle the tire (holding it on the top and bottom) that is too much play. even just a little. Just make sure the movement is not in the ball joints.

I am having the same hesitation at highway speeds. 97k on my 05 H2. Was thinking it was the fuel pump/filter...but it starts perfectly. Did you ever figure out what was going on?
