Side step question
Hello all,
2004 Hummer H2 153000 miles. I took off my drivers side steps to repair the rust and paint the factory side tubes. The plastic anti slip pad on my step is torn and loose. I am not sure of the make of this side step so I am wondering if anyone knows if there are replacement slip pads available. The repair turned out very nice. The glare makes it difficult to see how good it looks. Any help would be appreciated.

Those steps almost look factory. Either way it might be difficult to find replacements. Might be easier to repair them.
Nice work on the rock rails.
Mine have surface rust on each end. Pretty bad in some spots. I need to get them cleaned up and repainted.

Thanks for the reply. I basically scraped off the old paint and rust from the rock rails. Then took a sander and wire wheel to it. Then primer and a thick layer of Rustoleum Satin acrylic paint. I then undercoated the frame and inner rail. The ends of the rails rusted apart so I covered them with 1 1/2 in PVC pipe ends. Turned out very nice. Ill probably just refinish the step rails that I have.
Thanks again,
Kevin

I recently removed my rock rails. The easiest way to do it is to get a reasonably long 1/2" ratchet that has at least 72 teeth in it. (If you don't know how many teeth your ratchet has, it's probably 36.) You can then reach the top bolts from below with the ratchet, and there will be enough wiggle room for at least one or two clicks.

I actually never took mine off. I was able to reach any rusted areas pretty easily. I used a wire wheel with pretty good results.
