Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Default Side step question

Hello all,
2004 Hummer H2 153000 miles. I took off my drivers side steps to repair the rust and paint the factory side tubes. The plastic anti slip pad on my step is torn and loose. I am not sure of the make of this side step so I am wondering if anyone knows if there are replacement slip pads available. The repair turned out very nice. The glare makes it difficult to see how good it looks. Any help would be appreciated.

I’m fairly confident that those are one of the many factory options steps. 10 years ago you couldn’t give the chrome ones away and most got trashed.

You may keep an eye on Craigslist or eBay for a set of either the chrome or black steps, I have no idea what they are worth, if anything, today. I imagine shipping would cost more than the steps. I don’t think you’ll find individual replacement pads as the steps are considered accessories. GM typically has never carried replacement parts for accessories.

Thank you for the reply. I did some more searching last night and found the chrome step rails. Wasn't sure if the pads could be purchased but like you said I could not find them. Single steps are nice but pricey for me. Ill go ahead and refinish these in a satin black.

Thanks for the reply,

Kevin

Just realized you you have the same post twice and I responded to the wrong one. Glad someone was able to point you to just the pad. I have a set of OEM chrome steps I'm trying to get rid of. Went to the U Step.

Thank you for the replies. Posted twice and cannot figure out how to delete one...if I can at all. I'm in the process of stripping, painting, then spraying my steps satin black to match the rock rails. Pics tomorrow

Finished project. Ill add a couple coats of satin clear tomorrow for added protection. Not sure how long they will hold up but are a lot better that the rusted chrome ones.

looks very nice. Sorry I know this may seem as an old thread but I have an urgent question. This was originally chrome one, what was the material of the chrome? Stainless steel? Only steel? Or what?

can you please use a magnet and let me know? Thank you so much.

Actual chromed steel. NOT stainless (which would have cost a small fortune, and was not used on any OEM accessories on the H2)
