Default Shifter stuck?

Hey all. I am in the middle of my stereo install .... Still... And I have the whole center console and radio fascia pulled out still...

I was trying to move the vehicle and it would not allow me to push the shifter release down at all. Of course I am also not able to release the key from the ignition (I can release it but I have to push the button in the column)

I am thinking the plugs from the center console need to be connected for the shifter release to work. (Which means I can't even take it out of park. It won't even push down or push in).
So is that true that everything needs to be connected to push the release in?
I know I found out that they need to be connected for the key to release without pushing the button...

Any advice is appreciated

Is there a way to bypass it without putting the center console back together?

That I'm not certain of.... Should be a solenoid blocking it from moving somewhere. If I recall the connector and whatnot for that is on the left side of the shifter.

Yes, press the silver button on the right side of the shift module. This is your override for the shift interlock solenoid.

you will still need to connect the harness to the shifter and the main harness that connects to the center console to get the key out. I had a similar experience when I had the console out but in my case after I put it all back together my shifter cable bushing on the bottom of the truck that connects to the transmission detent arm had fallen apart. lucky thing at least it fell apart in neutral and in my driveway LOL. I had to take it to a transmission shop to have the arm and shifter cable replaced. both had rotted and where unusable.

Thanks everyone for the help. This project is really one heck of a work out.
Lots of things going on at once, and only one brain trying to remember everything
