The shifter on my H2 is in park but the vehicle can be pushed backward or forward. When I turn ignition key starter doesn't work or makes any noise. There has been no starter problems prior to this latest problem. Could this be the plastic bushing has broken on the shifter linkage? I tried pressing the brake pedal while turning the ignition key but shifter will not come out of park.
The headlamps work ok as does interior lamps. Can anybody advise what to do or what to try to correct this.?

 

It sounds like the shifter linkage is broken and your rig is stuck in neutral since you can push it. You should be able to just look under the rig at the shifter cable and see if it is connected to the tranny.
