Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Second thoughts on the age of a used H2

I'm sure some will disagree with this comment but having owned 3 H2's, both with an without rear air suspension I can tell you first hand the Air suspension units ride better, handle better and if you trailer anything or put some heavy weight they really shine. I imagine off road it made a major difference too.

If I could find an wrecked or bone yard 08 H2 with the air compressor I would seriously think of retrofitting mine from springs to air, no doubt a major undertaking considering the programming that would be necessary. Just getting all of the cabling and add on pieces would be a major undertaking.

Currently looking at putting a Firestone compressor with adjustable pressure controls and switching out the springs for airbags. I have just about everything I need, the only issue I have now is I need to go from the 6mm air hose connection points on the air bags to a standard 1/4" that is used with the aftermarket compressors. I will fabricate a steel shelf that is behind the rear axle like the factory one and mount everything there.

when I first bought my H2 at the dealership it had 2 miles on it, I being 6’8”, the sun roof hit my head right off the bat,so I bought it without the sun roof,
that said I could not get the luxury model, witch had the air bags, so I added air springs to my rear of truck, made 2,000 lbs difference load carrying and driving and towing the boat, off-road I can’t say, only hassle with off-road was removing the long side steps each time you wanted to go….

Default Adapters, Adapters, I sure hate Metric!

I wish it would be that easy, Here's a pic of some brand new airbags, You can see the fittings are knurled and pressed in. No way to remove them to replace them with 1/4 inch without destroying the bags.

And trying to go the other way, At one point I found an adapter from 1/4 to 6mm but the company had sold out then went bankrupt. Trying to find schrader valves in 6mm and also the connection points to switch out on the Firestone compressor is also difficult as they are not offered by Firestone either.

HummerZ, do you think the original fitting is actually screwed in? I would hate to ruin a brand new set of bags trying to remove the original air fittings? Thx

if they look like your circled picture they are most likely molded in not screw on.
i guess you are looking for something like this instead?
Amazon Amazon
another solution that incorporates both worlds. springs and bags would be something like this.

I doubt it. Contact the company I posted above for same fitting with NPT male to attach to compressor or get a
1/4" NPT Male to 1/4" BSPP Female Adapter 1/4" NPT Male to 1/4" BSPP Female Adapter
then pipe it in with
6mm OD Push to Connect 6mm OD Push to Connect

EDIT>>>the 6mm kit above has 1/4" npt male to 6mm push connect fittings included.

@H2-SUT I agree that the air ride on the H2 does ride better than springs. Not a commercial ... .but the Predator team in San Diego can fix the OEM pump with alternative parts. I have the 08 compressor and they brought it back to life. Not cheap, but the air suspension is back in business. See this thread...

"Not cheap" IMO a waste of money to spend on a 16yr old outdated compressor.
